System Manager - System Config
Most of system's global settings are configured from the System screen.
Skip to options for:
Configuration Tab
Maintenance Tab
Exporting Tab
Configuration Tab
System Identifier
This can be any 4 digit numeric and should be unique to each Voice Solutions system on your network, as it allows the source server to be traced for a dictation.
Paths
These paths are extremely important to the correct functionality of the system. Although they can be modified, it is recommended that you leave them to their defaults.
-
Audio Files
This is the path which all audio (or dictation) files are stored.
Audio Import
This is the path that the system will monitor for audio files to import.
Dss Import
This is the path that the system will monitor for dss files to convert and then import.
PcDictate Share
This is the path that the system will place PcDictate's user database. PcDictate 2 uses this path to access and log onto the system.
Telephony Backup
This is the path that the system will store a backup of all audio files created from a telephony channel.
Export Files on Archival
If checked, when the system archives a dictation then it will copy the audio file to the path entered. By setting the path to a different drive, you can keep all of your audio files without filling up the system's local drive.
These options only affect how Dss files are handled by the system.
-
Import Configuration
This determines how Dss files are imported. Import as Dss will rename the .dss file but keep its original extension. Convert to Wave will rename the .dss, convert it to a wave file, and then import it. Import as Dss will keep the audio file size smaller but prohibits telephony transcription. Convert to Wave will produce a larger file size but allows telephony transcription.
Default Department
A user cannot set the deparment from a digital portable so the number here will be its deparment number. It can be from 1-99.
Use Worktype Data for Typist Selection
If checked, then the worktype selected on the digital portable will be used to populate the Exc/Asg field (exclusive Typist).
These options control extended functionality for telephony dictation. In addition to the standard Subject prompt for telephony dictation, two additional fields can be enabled which are customizable. They still have to be enabled on the user's profile.
-
Field Name
To enable the prompt, check the box and then provide a name. This name will show up on each Author profile under the Telephony tab.
Length
This determines the maximum number of characters that can be entered for this field.
Prompt Name
From the dropdown, select what prompt you want to play when requesting the user to enter that particular field.
Annotate Prompt Name
From the dropdown, select what prompt you want to play when the user has that field spoken to him with the annotate feature. This can be the same or different from the Prompt Name.
Making Changes
To save any changes you have made, you must click the Apply button. Close will save and exit the screen.
The Revert button will restore the settings back to their last saved configuration.
